Growing up on a smallholding near a woodland, my early life was shaped by a practical connection to nature and the warmth of log burners. These formative experiences sparked a lifelong interest in sustainable heating and woodland stewardship.

My professional journey into the solid fuel industry began with HETAS training, where I qualified as a certified and approved Chimney Sweep. Complementing this, I also hold City & Guilds qualifications in Chainsaw Operation and Tree Felling, allowing me to engage with the entire wood fuel supply chain—from source to stove.

In 2012, while based in the North East, I co-founded gdlogs.co.uk, a company focused on supplying responsibly sourced firewood. Our mission was clear: to offer high-quality logs with sustainability at the core, helping customers heat their homes efficiently and ethically.

Alongside my work in the solid fuel sector, and following my University degree, I pursued a successful career in marketing. Over two decades, I developed and led award-winning direct marketing campaigns for major organisations including TUI, Auto Trader, and Sue Ryder.

Today, my primary focus is back where it began—in the solid fuel and wood heating industry. I am the owner of Swept Chimney Sweeping Services, serving Huddersfield and the wider West Yorkshire region.
